Mussels in Pickled Sauce

Fresh mussels from the Atlantic coast canned in a spicy sauce made of sunflower oil, wine vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, piri-piri and spices. This preserve is perfect to be served in petiscos (Portuguese tapas) but can also be integrated in a paella or a fish dish.

The can is prepared by hand in Matosinhos, near Porto, and then packed in a cardboard box with a delightfully old-fashioned and very Portuguese design.
